Halloween Party

2:12 PM

I can't believe that my Little is already two weeks old!  (pics coming momentarily)  The last few weeks of my pregnancy was spent in a cooking, cleaning, and organizing frenzy trying to get ready for this little guy to arrive.  In all of that though, my main focus was, of course, food.  I made a handful of meals that were ready and waiting for me in the freezer when we came home from the hospital, and my favorite, easy Mixes - made from some of my favorite recipes!

Check back soon for my new series!

In the meantime, I've decided to have a little "Happy Fall/Halloween Party" here.  Obviously, I won't actually be hosting any parties this month, but I just love Autumn and I keep coming across fun ideas for Halloween food and decorating.  If I were hosting a party right now, I'd definitely be using these ideas.

First, greet your guests with something welcoming and festive before they even come inside.

I love the feel of this entrance.  It's very sophisticated and "autumn-y," but the ravens add a bit of a creep factor.

There are so many different kinds of squash and pumpkins and I love the use of so many of these in the clusters going up the stairs.

This last porch is so fun and has a great Halloween feel, without being macabre.  (I'm definitely not a fan of the super creepy Halloween decor.)

Next, help set the mood with the right music
as soon as you walk through the door.

I came across this playlist, absolutely perfect for my kind of Halloween party.  Classic songs and singers with the perfect amount of swank.  None of those blood-curdling screams.

The right decorations are a must.

There are so many fun ideas - these are just some of them, so without commenting on every picture, feast your eyes on some fun fall decor (and food) and check out the links for the how-to.

And of course, Don't forget the Food!

Two recipes that I love to make this time of year are my Ghost Meringues and Pumpkin Cookies.

These cookies are so fun and would be really easy to make using your favorite sugar cookie or shortbread dough and mixing in some orange food coloring.  Then dipping the ends in dark and white chocolate.  I think I would try adding some orange zest and extract to my sugar cookie dough as well as the food coloring, adding a fun burst of flavor.
